The 2026 Nobel Prize in economics has been awarded to the American economists Robert Hall, professor at Stanford University, and Michael Woodford of Columbia University. The award recognises work on the microeconomic foundations of macroeconomic stabilisation: working independently, they developed models explaining how the decisions of people and firms shape employment, inflation and economic growth.
