Finding a cleaner in Belgrade is getting harder, and appointments are sometimes booked weeks ahead. Regular flat maintenance costs about 1,200 dinars an hour, while a deep clean is charged at around 1,500 to 1,600 dinars an hour because it involves moving furniture and washing windows and floors after painting. Cleaners are also hired to prepare for slava celebrations, cook, iron and buy groceries. For offices and commercial premises, regular maintenance costs from 40,000 dinars a month for smaller spaces up to 50,000–60,000 dinars for larger ones. Demand is high, and the work is mostly taken by women on small pensions or those who have lost their jobs.
