The railway from Zemun Polje to the future National Stadium in Surčin had cost the state budget 41.6 billion dinars by early October, more than 354 million euros. The budget plan for the project was 188 million euros.
Eleven of the 18 kilometres of track are finished. Almost 20 million euros has already been paid per kilometre. By the end of September 17.3 billion dinars had been paid out of the budget, 300 million more than the original 2026 budget law, and after the budget revision the figure rose to 19.9 billion dinars.
If spending stays inside the budget, another 2.6 billion dinars will be added this year and 8.4 billion over the next two years. The total bill then rises to 52.6 billion dinars, or 448 million euros, excluding further unplanned costs. Each of the 18 kilometres will end up costing almost 25 million euros. The works are carried out by the Belgrade branch of China's Power China.
